Practice Perspectives

Listen to two experts as they discuss critical topics in quality improvement and prophylaxis.

The Joint Commission, the National Quality Forum, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other agencies have launched various quality initiatives to advance our overall approach to managing venous thromboembolism (VTE). Their evolving standards address specific and measurable aspects of risk assessment, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with VTE or risk factors for VTE. Implementation of a structured quality improvement program can assist hospital-based clinicians as you evaluate and improve the use of prophylaxis and assist you in meeting these standards. This course highlights key features of their consensus standards as they pertain to individual practitioners and to institutions and features of implementing a quality improvement program.
